We do complete air-conditioning servicing – by complete we mean we remove both the heat exchangers. The condenser is removed and washed, the evaporator is removed and washed. In some models the dash board has to be removed as the evaporator is located in the HVAC. The compressor oil is checked if required the oil top up is done. The complete air-conditioning system is reassembled, nitrogen leak tested, vacuuming and then refrigerant gas charging is done. The performance testing is done, the compressor pressures are checked, the dash board grill temperatures and cabin air temperatures are checked for conformity to OEM standards.

NITROGEN LEAK TESTING

Leak testing of air-conditioning system is done in two ways. One as an entire system and two individual components are removed and leak tested using special end connection adaptors. In both cases high nitrogen is used to identify the exact location of leakage.

SPECIAL LEAK DETECTORS

In high end vehicles where the cost of components is very high or the cost of labour charges to open the complete HVAC is very high, we user special leak detectors known as sniffers for narrowing down the area of leakage.

UV LEAK DETECTION

Another way is we use special tracer UV dye to identify leakage. This tracer UV dye is injected into the air-conditioning system along with the refrigerant gas. In case of leakage the tracer dye oozes out from the point of leakage and can be easily identified using special UV torch.

In most of the modern cars we have variable compressor in which the compressor efficiency is controlled by a control valve. The ECM unit takes necessary input signals for cabin temperature, set temperature, outside temperature etc to decide the compressor performance for achieving the desired cooling set. As these signals are PWM current they cannot be measured using ordinary volt meters.  We have special diagnostic tool that can identify compressor valve failure. This helps is pin pointing the fault whether it is in valve or compressor assembly.

The complete performance testing of the air-conditioning system is done using multiport temperature data logger and pressure gauges. The pull down temperature difference between air inlet and out let compared to the ambient temperature is mapped to ensure maximum performance of air-conditioning system.
